I have several Buck Bantams. One was for my son and another was a gift to me. Unfortunately I don't have much good to say about them. The Bantam has a nice blade profile and finish and actually came very sharp out of the box. Both knives held the edge fairly well. I do not like the pocket clip on the bantam but the knife does carry light. It is light. It is all plastic construction with non-adjustable pins and pivot. The lockup is a joke and both of ours have side and up and down play. If you put much pressure on them while gripping them they can unlock. Not good. The blade centering is very poor but it doesn't seem to affect the function of the knife. I know that this knife is made in the USA and is a Buck but I think that it is a poorly made knife. A good blade in a terrible handle. I would send them both back but the flaws are in the design. These knives are a step above junk knives and are actually fairly durable though. My son still carries his and mine just stays in the cutting block in the kitchen for daily use. We use our knives daily and I like Buck knives but I just really would not recommend this knife. I think a person would be better off paying 5 more dollars to get the Buck Vantage which is a better built knife with a safer lock. Sorry Buck, I hate to be harsh but this knife is a loser.

Nice little knife for an affordable price. The blade is sharp, non-corrosive 420HC metal. The 79mm blade lenght is good for everyday carry, and also long enough for work or self defense. The grip is ergonomic. The lock is good. The grip is made of plastic, which is lightweight, and it does not look cheap on this knife! Some reviews mentioned that their blade was not well centered, and had bad side play. Fortunately I had no such issues. I think it is nice option for an affordable price. Very good Value/Price ratio.

Mostly I agree with his comment but it is the weight that is paramount because its quite difficult making a middel weight knife of this size cheaply.

I got the knife because i liked the shape of the blade. It looked sturdy anf light weight. The 420hc I like the side to side play on the blade I dont and there is no way to adjust it.

Our Bantams both have side and a little up and down play. Not a lock that you can depend on.

This is a bigger EDC or Light Duty Outdoor knife. The blade is 3 3/4" (9cm) long. The steel is 420 HC. When I first got it I was worried about the steel because I had a knife using really bad 420 steel. Totally not the case. It's corrosion resistant (took it to the sea side for 2 weeks), easy to sharpen and holds a good edge. The blade is hollow ground which I like. Good thumbstuds too. The handle is made of plastic and is pretty durable. What I did not like were the sharp edges on the handle. I used some sandpaper but they are still there. Also the blade centering on mine is off and you can't adjust it because it is a pinned construction. Lock up is pretty good, it's a lock back. Since I have done some woodsplitting for campfires it has some wiggle up and down. The clip is very good in my opinion. It's strong and carries pretty deep. But it's only tip up carry and no reversible to the left side.Overall I love my Buck Bantam BHW. Really good choice for a high value folder.
