Some blade play when originally purchased but most of my Benchmade axis locks came with a little play. Blade design is really nice, the modified sheepsfoot has good cutting ability while being different from other blades. steel is good (154CM). handle scales are plastic but Ok, a little short for larger hands. A good light weight knife but too expensive for what you get.

After handling my brothers 551 I fell in love with Benchmade knives, in particular the Griptilian. When I got this knife in a trade I was absolutely ecstatic. It opens as smooth as butter and locks up like a vault. The blade is as sharp as a razor and with the serrations on it, it just makes the knife look that much better. It feels perfect in my hands it fits right in and doesn't feel out of place. The one thing that makes this knife is the fact that it has the axis lock and just makes the knife that much more fun to have. I highly recommend this knife to anyone who wants to give Benchmade a try. You will be hooked!

I have a around 20 knives or so and some much more expensive the the 550 but this is hands down in my top 3 favorites. The knife opens and closes beautifuly and without drag in the process. The modified sheepsfoot hollow ground blade is proven to be on on te sharpest blade geometries and this grippy does not disappoint. I Would recommend this knife to everyone. If your a collector then its a must but if your looking for just one good blade then this is definetly the one to get.
