As a fan of Leatherman multi tools I compare other similar tools to them.

Spirit is excellent tool with sturdy build and good ergonomics. I own the Spirit I which differs from the one pictured here by not having scissors (replaced with a file) or the ruler on the handle.

Weight/size/tool ratio is what I'm used to so it feels just right. It doesn't have removable bits so you don't have to worry about losing them. Build quality feels solid (no clap, locking mechanism works well, handles don't bend too much when applying force on the plier).

Only complaint is the rather steep price. You get equally good tool from Leatherman cheaper. But if you are anti - Leatherman, Spirit is an excellent choice.

Juice XE6 is my n:th Leatherman and first non-lockable-blades Leatherman after the original PST.

This multitool is heavy as it's packed with lots of tools. Lots of tools equals less space for pliers so the pilers aren't as sturdy as in other pocket-size Leathermans.

With weight comes a pletohra of tools. You have your basic blade, serrated blade, saw, a good size scissors (biggest I've seen in a multitool so far), screwdrivers, awl and for me not so important corck screw.

Even the blades are not lockable, they hold fast pretty well (whole lot better than in the PST) so you dont have to worry much about losing a finger or two. On the other hand, tightness is really annoying with the shorter screwdrivers: you need strong nails and thick skin not to hurt your fingers while opening those.

I'd say Juice is a good camping tool, but for the size/price I'd recommend Wave over this if you are planning to use your multi tool on daily basis.

Two tours (this time) down and more to go. Can't say enought about the quaility, duradility and utility of this knife. I have small hands and as mentioned the handles on this fit likt it was custom made. Best knife I've ever humped in my ruck.

I love this knife except for one serious thing.I carry this knife in my pocket instead of using the pocket clip. I have found that even the slightest pressure on the opener from anything including my jeans can cause the very tip of the blade to protrude outside the confines of the handle just enough to stab your finger when you retreive it from your pocket. It has got me three times so I no longer carry it.

This is a big knife. So big in fact, I call it a half sword. That said, it carries easy and makes a great outdoor camping, survival, hunting knife.

The steel keeps a great edge yet is easy to resharpen when needed.

The fit and finish are excellent and the scales are very grippy.

The only draw back is the plastic sheath. It does the job but a knife this nice deserves leather.

TOPS Knives Pasayten Light Traveler

-Price Paid: $110.00
-Used for Outdoor/Survival
-Owned for 3 months

Comments:

The TOPS KNIVES Pasayten Light Traveller is one great blade. It is designed with classic lines that date back hundreds of years. The 154cm steel is rust resistant and holds a great edge. The blade slices through wood and man made materials like butter, even after long use. The handle is very ergonomic and the kydex sheath gets the job done. This is a perfect companion for larger blades or axes, or on its own on your next outdoor adventure.

The Leatherman Sidekick is an amazing introductory level multi-tool. USA made, with lots of options with its tools, and at a great price of under $30, what is there not to like? My only complaint is that I wish they gave you scissors on the sidekick, otherwise this is a great item to have on camping trips or around town.

The Endura 4 has been around for some time. This has enabled Spyderco to improve the design over that timeframe.
The VG10 steel is one of my favorites. No I don't think of it as wonder steel, but I love the edge it takes and how easy it is to sharpen. In addition, this knife went swimming with me in a river during a rafting trip. The VG-10 laughs at corrosion (this is fresh water, not salt water).
While there may be some out there that dislike this knife, it's one of my favorites in my ever growing collection.

The Mini Copperlock in general is a fantastic knife, and I've owned a number of them in both Tru-Sharp and CV since their release in 1998. The overall feel is fantastic and what one would hope for in a quality American lockback folder. However, when buying, it is best to do so in-person to insure that the scales are properly matched (material dependent). I've carried this model for many years and they have served me well through mundane everyday activities to hard use all while keeping the classy appearance. Highly recommended.

-Price Paid: $425.00

Comments:

Reality for this knife is as a dispatch weapon. Its long thin double sided blade, lends itself to precise actions and defeating the human rib cage to reach vital organs. It is a knife which is designed for a darker purpose. In a secondary role, it could be considered for self defense. The mere sound of this OTF, or visual confirmation of its presence by an assailant will make them think twice.

This knife, in any other capacity, other than the aforementioned role, is foolish and irresponsible. The knife is made for a specialized purpose, within a limited community of operators, or collectors.

That said, the blade is S30V, a top rated stainless steel, and the mechanisms are superb. The all aluminum body is tough, and it takes a strong thumb to operate this double action OTF. A special tool is necessary to open the body of the Makora 2 for oiling, and its available from Microtech. After a wear in period and some oiling, you will notice that this gem of a blade will fire and retract with a little less effort.

The Schrade SCHF16 Knife is an amazing neck knife. The price point is amazing at $20. The 9cr18mov blade holds an edge well and is designed well for stabbing or cutting tasks. The handle is ergonomic with great traction on the G10 handle scales. The sheath is kydex. For the money you can't go wrong!
