Was looking for a good all-around outdoors knife. Wanted full tang and good steel. After researching online, the BK family of knives, now owned by Kabar, seemed universally well regarded. I ordered the BK7 as I prefer 5 to 7" blade lengths in a multi-purpose knife.

The knife has done everything I've asked of it. From fuzz sticks to chopping wood for fire, it has done all well. The steel takes a good edge and holds it. The blade is coated, which protects the steel from rust. The handle is not uncomfortable, but I have held better. Handle material is slick, but I haven't had a problem with it.

This is a large knife, with a heavy blade, so it will not be the best knife for some tasks. But I have found that it works well for most tasks.

The BK7 is one of the best bang for you buck 7 inch knives out there. USA made, 1095 Cro-Van High Carbon, good sheath, good handle design. The only complaint is that the thumb ramp is not needed and gets in the way when you want to do carving. With that said, I think everyone should own one of these blades. It is a jack of all trades master of none. Checkout my youtube review and see the BK7 in action.
