The opening action on this is very quick due to the spring assisted mechanism. This is the coolest part of the knife. The closing action feels like it grinds - I have used several and they each felt like this. The handle material is practical but feels cheap to me. The one that I own was not very sharp out of the box and it did not take much use to make it as dull as a butter knife. It fits my hand well and feels good and secure to hold. The nice thing about this knife is that it is easy to sharpen and is reasonably priced.

I have the all-stainless model of the Poliwog and I love it. One of my favorite knives, its size and look make it ideal for carry in an office or in public around non-knife afficianados. It is a small, compact size. The blade is short but practical, and not dagger-like (meaning, it does not look like something that you would choose as a stabbing weapon). The ball-bearing lock makes the opening very smooth. It has a very reassuring "click" and seems very strong, despite its delicate look. The closing action really requires 2 hands but this is no biggie to me. The knife fits my hand very well. I have large hands and I had concern that this would be too small, but it works for me. I also like that only a very small portion of the knife sticks out of my pocket when carrying. The clip is a wire clip and is also discreet. I like this model alot and if I had to narrow my collection down to (only) 2 knives, this would be one that I would keep.

Comments:

I bought this knife because I love the look of it. Stainless silver bolsters, black micarta handle, and the upswept blade are all very cool. The opening action is overly stiff. Per my research, this is a common complaint on this knife. It seems to be getting better with time, however. The knife is not light for it's size, but is very solid and well made. Very sharp, and the blade (VG-10) is nice quality. I don't carry this that often because I want to keep it nice looking. The one advantage of this model is that it should hold its value well, as per many Spyderco models. This is being discontinued by Spyderco after 2009.

This is perhaps my best "user" knife. I just got it a few weeks ago and I love it. Very light for its size. Big enough to feel like a real knife but not too big to carry most everywhere. The opening action is the smoothest of all my knives. The compression lock is essentially like an upside-down liner lock, but more secure overall. I have the straight-edged, all-black model. The black on the blade seems like it is part of the steel and not a coating (but it is actually a coating). Blade steel is S30V and razor sharp out of the box. I have a bald spot on my arm to prove it. The knife is not cheap. There are more inexpensive knives that would serve the same purpose. This is "luxury" knife that is built for hard and frequent use.

I think that this is one of the best value knives offered by Spyderco. S30V steel and under $60 "street price". Fits my hand very well. I use this knife more than any of my others. Very light and not overly large, which makes good EDC. All-black handle and clip make it discreet. Good blade shape makes it good for slicing and opening boxes and such. I don't like the feel of the pivot when it opens - seems to grind a bit, but I don't think that this knife has bushings, and there are no stainless liners inside, to save weight.

I bought this on clearance for a fantastic price, as a collector. I doubt I will submit it to heavy use. I love the look of it, and the knife screams "quality" with the handle and liner lock when in your hand. No jimping, like the Barong, on the spine or tang. It looks better without jimping, but practically, the knife would be better served with it for aiding grip for the thumb and forefinger. The knife is slightly smaller than I thought it would be - thought it would be about the size of the Barong before I bought.

I have the all-stainless version of the Endura. Very stiff opening, which hopefully will loosen with time. I love the look of the all-stainless model, but it is heavier as a result of the added beauty. This is essentially a larger Delica, and one of the reasons that I carry the Delica is the size (smaller) and weight (lighter). This is a larger folding knife, and I don't carry mine as much because I also have other knives this size that I carry more (Paramilitary, Barong).

This knife is Spyderco's bread and butter. Very good value - you get Spyderco quality at a low price. This knife to me is the "standard" for comparing other Spyderco models. I probably EDC this model more than any of my others. One reason is weight - very light. Also big enough, but not too big, to be practical in an everyday role.

Picked this up on closeout before it was officially added to the discontinuted list by Spyderco. I love it. It has big leaf-shaped blade. The handle fits my hand nicely. No jimping on the spine or elsewhere, but asthetically, it works better without on this knife. The handle and liners are very solid. Ergonomics are fantastic.

This is a great knife to get if your budget is on the shallow end of the money pool. It really fills out the hand well and feels great for everyday carry. The full flat ground blade is an excellent slicer, and true to all spyderco products it comes shaving sharp right out of the box. Even though it is made in china I really feel this is a great quality knife, something that I have really come to expect from spyderco.

I am slowly becoming a fan of Kershaw knives, never owned one until recently, now have three with another enroute. Anyway, about the Tyrade, beautiful knife, well built, assited opening very smooth, and lock up is strong. I felt the edge could be a little sharper, but that is to everyones own taste. Very thick blade and heavy knife, but I like both in my folders that I use for heavy duty. Not sure how the two steels will work as to holding together, but I assume Kershaw did enough testing before they put it out there. Anyway great knife at a great price. Forgot to add ergonomics for me make it one of the most comfortable knives I have ever held. Go buy one!

This was my first knife that I got when I became a boyscout. It's served me well for many years as a multipurpose knife. I use the blades more than anything else on the knife for cutting rope or shaving wood. However the scissors, corkscrew, bottle opener, screwdrivers, and tweezers have all come in very handy at some point in time. It's not the most heavy duty knife, but ends up being useful in many ways. Overall I have been very happy with it.
