Pretty good overall knife except for the flimsy belt clip which is why it I down rated it. I also dont like the ribs on the blade because it makes it harder to sharpen but I am no expert sharpener. This is a good knife despite its shortcomings but Id recommend someone to save a few more bucks and get something else.

I was highly disappointed to see that Kershaw knifes are predominately made in CHINA these days. The design of this knife is the Kershaw standby and is easily replicated by anyone. The quality of the steel is just what you would expect from a blade made in China. The pocket clip is small for this blade. If you don't know how to sharpen knives you will not be able to get this to hold an edge. If you find a knife that is made in the U.S.A. buy 10 of those things, because everything is being moved across the seas.

I bought this knife about a yr back from Walmart for $39 bucks. It was a great investment for the price to say the least. The fit and finish are very good.As good as any other factory made knife made by anyone in fact. I got the gray handle that I like very much. Gives this knife a great look along with the milling and the blade. People still want to know where to get one when the see it. Unfortunately Kershaw no longer makes the USA version. It flips out very easily everytime. It's as fast my assisted openers are. I use only Breakfree Clp or Quick Release to maintain them all. It's made with 14c28n steel Which is a good as VG10 as far as I can see. It take a easily maintainable razor edge. It's very stain resistant also. This has become one of my all time favorite knives. I've been collecting and edging them for about 43 yrs now. As you van imagine I own a lot of knives. I'd say
buy one if you can find one it's a winner all the way around. maintain all my blades. They both will make the blades fly open

Bought the knive about a month ago. I actually got the tanto blade version with no serrations. This is one of the best knives for the money ever. Obviously not $100.00 or custom quality - but very close! I really like the 14C28N Sandvik steel. The modified tanto blade has gotten a lot of positive feedback from others who have seen it. Everyone wants to know how to get one. It was shaving sharp out of the box and held the edge well until I cut a lot of cardboard boxes, which seem to dull my knives faster than almost anything. And it was easy to sharpen back to a very keen edge. The flipper is still a little stiff so it doesn't lock open every time. Probably could be solved by just a small adjustment but I want to use it first so I don't end up with blade play later. And the comment from one of the other reviews about the blade not centering when closed, I haven't had that experience. Overall I think this is a GREAT buy. Hopefully this feeling, after only a month, will continue after a few years of use.

If the pivot on your Zing is a little stiff, maybe try a drop of gun oil on the pivot right between the knife scales. I use Hoppes(cheap and widely available), but any will do.

Ive had my zing for quite a bit and really enjoy this unique knife. Out of the box the blade was super sharp. I really like the newer sandivik steels that kershaw uses. I think they provide good edgeholding capability at a great price. I also like the feel of the groves in the blade as they pass through cardboard or other material. My biggest complaint is that the knife doesnt fit my hand too well. Other than that this is a great knife and probably underappreciated by the knife community.

I bought this knife to check out the Sandvik 14C28N steel. Kershaw's catalog states "Sandvik calls 14C28N the overall highest performing steel in the world that still maintains the productivity benefit of being fine blankable". Fine blanked blades are machine cut with very little grinding left to do. Also "has the ability to be hardened to 60+ Rockwell". Kershaw doesn't state what the Rockwell hardness is. I haven't had the chance to beat it up yet. It's so pretty I really don't want to. The flipper provides a fast and smooth opening. Very solid lockup and the flipper makes closing the blade cut proof. The handle makes for a comfortable grip but the best part of the knife is that you never have to wipe fingerprints off the blade.I may actually be left with a shirt that doesn't have a slice in it. Blade came shaving sharp out of the box. Blade also locks into closed position very tightly. A great, inexpensive EDC. I would never rate a $40 knife a 9 or a 10, but it comes close.

This knife is an excellent value knife. I got it in a raffle for $5, but at a price point of around $35 it is a lot of knife for the value.

I'll start with the negatives before I get to the positives.

-The blade isn't centered when shut. It doesn't affect the function but some people don'tlike it

-The lanyard hole is kind of small

-The handles are polymide which is just the basic frn/zytel/plastic.

-The striations on the blade can rub a little on draw cuts.

-The bead blasted finish is prone to rust

Now onto the positives.

-The 14c28n steel is a nice steel. It takes a razor edge, is super easy to sharpen and has pretty good edge retention.

-The one I got is orange which is a very cool color, and even though it is polymide, the way it's textured it feels closer to g10.

-While the striations are not good for draw cuts, on push cuts it just slices like no ones business.

-The flipper is lightning fast and the detent is strong enough that I've never had it fail, except when I was trying to flip it as lightly as possible to purposely make it fail.

-It looks up super solid with almost not blade play.

Overall I rate this knife with excellent value. Obviously for only $35 there are going to be some flaws but they are minor. In my opinion you will have a hard time finding a better knife for the value and I would recommend it to anyone

I got this knife at Walmart for about $40. Usual Kershaw quality fit & finish in this small knife. A bit heavy for its size, but not overly so. After tweaking the pivot screw, it flips open smooth as butter and locks up tight with no blade play. Lots of fun to play with. Everyone I show it to thinks the grooves in the blade are really cool, but those grooves are kind of hard to clean after cutting something like electrical tape. Kershaw's new Sandvik 14C28N seems like an improvement over the already excellent 13C26N; easy to sharpen, good edge retention. Three clip positions (no left tip-down) add versatility to this little casual carry or backup blade. I like this knife.
