I bought this knife to check out the Sandvik 14C28N steel. Kershaw's catalog states "Sandvik calls 14C28N the overall highest performing steel in the world that still maintains the productivity benefit of being fine blankable". Fine blanked blades are machine cut with very little grinding left to do. Also "has the ability to be hardened to 60+ Rockwell". Kershaw doesn't state what the Rockwell hardness is. I haven't had the chance to beat it up yet. It's so pretty I really don't want to. The flipper provides a fast and smooth opening. Very solid lockup and the flipper makes closing the blade cut proof. The handle makes for a comfortable grip but the best part of the knife is that you never have to wipe fingerprints off the blade.I may actually be left with a shirt that doesn't have a slice in it. Blade came shaving sharp out of the box. Blade also locks into closed position very tightly. A great, inexpensive EDC. I would never rate a $40 knife a 9 or a 10, but it comes close.

This knife is an excellent value knife. I got it in a raffle for $5, but at a price point of around $35 it is a lot of knife for the value.

I'll start with the negatives before I get to the positives.

-The blade isn't centered when shut. It doesn't affect the function but some people don'tlike it

-The lanyard hole is kind of small

-The handles are polymide which is just the basic frn/zytel/plastic.

-The striations on the blade can rub a little on draw cuts.

-The bead blasted finish is prone to rust

Now onto the positives.

-The 14c28n steel is a nice steel. It takes a razor edge, is super easy to sharpen and has pretty good edge retention.

-The one I got is orange which is a very cool color, and even though it is polymide, the way it's textured it feels closer to g10.

-While the striations are not good for draw cuts, on push cuts it just slices like no ones business.

-The flipper is lightning fast and the detent is strong enough that I've never had it fail, except when I was trying to flip it as lightly as possible to purposely make it fail.

-It looks up super solid with almost not blade play.

Overall I rate this knife with excellent value. Obviously for only $35 there are going to be some flaws but they are minor. In my opinion you will have a hard time finding a better knife for the value and I would recommend it to anyone

I got this knife at Walmart for about $40. Usual Kershaw quality fit & finish in this small knife. A bit heavy for its size, but not overly so. After tweaking the pivot screw, it flips open smooth as butter and locks up tight with no blade play. Lots of fun to play with. Everyone I show it to thinks the grooves in the blade are really cool, but those grooves are kind of hard to clean after cutting something like electrical tape. Kershaw's new Sandvik 14C28N seems like an improvement over the already excellent 13C26N; easy to sharpen, good edge retention. Three clip positions (no left tip-down) add versatility to this little casual carry or backup blade. I like this knife.
