Decent knife. Definitely lighter than I would like. Keep it to chopping and dicing work. Softer steel, so the edge needs to be maintained. For the price, I will say it is a good knife for the value, especially if you're just using it every now and then at home. If you're more serious about your knife skills/ cooking, I'd definitely say make the investment in a better knife.

Bought this as a set with the G2 Chef's knife. This is a great paring knife that holds a nice edge.
As with other Global knives, it sits well in your hand for all different types of work.
Overall, great universal paring knife, especially for the price.

I love this knife, and it's a great entry-level knife for those that take their cooking and knife skills a little more seriously. I know a lot of professional cooks start off with the Global knives because of the quality and value you get for the knife.
It holds an edge well and stays sharp as long as you as you steel it properly. It is on the lighter side, which is nice as you start practicing certain knife skills, however after awhile you may want something heavier in which the forged Global knives (GF series) fulfill that need.
Buy this knife as a set with the paring knife and you'll be set. Overall, a great chef's knife.

I have really enjoyed this knife set! I have a big kitchen...and often several cooks...so having this many good knives has been a joy. No rust because I handwash...and my brother sharpens them when he occasionally visits...so I'm good to go. My daughter just moved into a new house...so I will be purchasing a set for her!

This was one of my first high quality knife purchases based on some site for cooking for engineers... they had a bunch of tests they did with a variety of knives. I must say that this knife is balanced well, cuts everything like it was butter, and retains its edge for so long. Every 4-6 months I got down to the local farmers market where they sharpen knives... I forgot the name of the company, but they just happen to be the ones that developed the wet stone sharpening process for Global. Best way to sharpen. One of these day's I'll get the whole set.

This knife is part of a larger set that I own and it is the "all-arounder" of the bunch. It makes tidy cuts due to the sharpness and the good grip allows me to hold it fast every time. Compared to this knife, all my old knives seem like rubbish.

I got this knife a year ago to use in my kitchen in my suite at college. It's a useful knife but over time it has become less sharp, and we don't have a good way to sharpen it. It still cuts and everything but takes a little more effort. It was really inexpensive so not a bad choice for a college student who likes to cook but doesn't have a lot of money for a knife.
