By far my favorite outdoor knife. balance perfectly, rugged and the sheath is actually a plus instead of an after thought. For the money you can't beat it.

This knife, and it's smaller brother, the Blackfoot/Dark Raven, reviewed separately, are very high quality. I would say they're near custom but at a production price range. Overall, everything works; mine was razor sharp out of the box, centered and smooth after a couple of dozen opening cycles. The stellar diamond grip G-10 scales are superb, and the clip combined with the scales give the knife a firm grip in the pocket, yet are easy to deploy. The jimping actually works, the spine is rounded; a nice touch. I am sorry that LW went out of business. As a result, these knives are getting harder to find, yet are worth seeking out for their overall excellence.

I own a LW Blackfoot, formerly the Dark Raven, and can't say enough about this knife. I have the larger Longhorn, reviewed separately, and love the build quality of these knives. Out of box mine was razor sharp, perfectly centered and with no play in either direction. On these, the pivot is buried under the left scale, but with only two T6 torx screws is easy to get to, but I didn't have to make any adjustments, once the knife was broken in after a few dozen opening/closing cycles it remains smooth as silk. The diamond G-10 grippy scales make for a solid and sure feel, and the knife does not have hot spots, it's really good. I have other folders but this one and the larger Longhorn are my current favorites.

Machine marks on liners, badly centred blade, gritty deployment , lock rock (play) and sticky lock, the ti liner lock is to soft and wears quickly . It wears especially quickly when snapped open using the wave

Oh and the steel is very soft (poor heat treat?) I've had numerous knives that had none of these proplems , some of which are under £20 dollars - sanremu to name 1.

Over rated, and over hyped by people who won't admit their knife that they spent a fair bit of money is total dog s£

Very honest and realistic review. People are generally hesitant to criticize famous brands. Thank you for having shared his experience with us.

I have the 350TS model and I have to say this is HANDS DOWN my favorite knife. It's super comfortable to handle, looks great, and is a built like a tank. Great steel for the blade, deploys faster than any auto I've seen, and I LOVE the tiger stripe look, too.

The G10 texturing feels super grippy without being overly abrasive. The attention to detail on this knife is superb, too.

One little detail that I really like is the fact that there is no jimping on the lock release. Just smooth and easy!

I am now a HUGE fan of the ZT line.

This is my FIRST ZT, but will NOT be my last!!!

Like the blade, seatbelt cutter and the glass breaker tip. Had to tighten up the axis pivot screw but she locks up nice and tight now. Have not had much reason to use it so...so far so good!

As previously stated this knife compliments the Tom Brown Tracker perfectly. The best feel in your hand out of many knives produced. It is made to fashion into a spear with the two holes near the handle.Perfect knife for evryday carry and stronger than a folding knife.(most folding knives are over 3 inches.)Tops warranty sucks and instead of replacing my knife when the tip broke they just ground it down 1/4 inch.

This is a great knife. It feels good in the hand and has nice gimping. The tip is a little thin and you'd need to be careful when prying. I carry it often. It is a bit overpriced in many places. A good looking knife, I would definitely recommend it.

pretty good knife, horrible value.

Wow, your a horrible value to humans. People like you do not need sharp objects.

Comment by maximushusky   03/26/2014
There are several things about this review that confuses me. One, why do you give it a 10 in every category but then a 3 overall? Also, why do you give it a 10 in the Value section, but in your comments you say that the knife has a horrible value? And how could you possibly say that a $6 knife has horrible value? Finally, why would you ever believe that someone was selling a spyderco for $6?

Comfortable to hold, Built well. Knife itself is flawless, only downside is the sheath. it is overbuilt and a little bulke, however the security of the sheath is awesome. It does its job. Blade is out of the box razor sharp. 5 inch model is now only available i believe

Comments:

I've had my DWO classic for 7 years, and it still works great. For people who have large hands (like myself), the handle may be too small. When I grasp the knife my pinkie rests on the bump at the end of the handle, which becomes very uncomfortable after prolonged use. If you've got smaller hands (or if you were to give this knife to your son or daughter for their first knife) I think it would work just fine. The lock-up on mine is still like a bank vault after all these years. The handle is made of rubber, and it tends to wear faster than other handles. My DWO is the older version that was made in Japan with an AUS 6 steel I believe. The current ones are made in China with an 8cr13mov, so I assume they would be about the same in performance. However, I've heard a few negatives about the new ones, but I can't voice my opinion because I don't have one.
