I use the Delica 4 as my EDC knife. It's light, razor sharp and the vg10 steel is easy to sharpen. Holds the edge very well. The handle material is very good. A lot of grip, even when wet. The lock is very tight and there is no blade play. Overall a great knife for a good price.

Camillus Blaze is a beautiful, small and strong blade. Very easy to put in a pocket. Assisted opening mechanism, is great. Not just a spring pull the blade, a simple (but efficient) piece of stainless pull on cam to pull up the blade. AUS 8 stainless steel work great. Tough and easy to sharp. Zytel handle, stainless steel frame. I like it. Many quality in a little knife !

Razor sharp out of the box. Great grip and feel. Great durability. I use this knife everyday on a wide range of things and it has not let me down. With a limited lifetime warranty and excellent customer service it was a no thought choice for sure.

KaBar Johnson Adventure Potbelly

Comments:

This is a solid knife for the money. The positives are its chopping ability and thick blade for batoning. The negative is that the knife is somewhat unweildy for fine work due to its forward weight. The sheath is a good idea, but the knife does not fit snugly inside the plastic insert. I would suggest that they use a fitted kydex insert. The piggyback smaller blade that rides inside the sheath is ok, but hard to get to. It would be better with a higher quality blade. The adventuregrip scales are lacking in my opinion. A material such as G2 or micarta would be better.

This knife is a great disappointment. No trace of Swedish quality. Edge of the blade is so soft that it can be bent nail, blunt easily and quickly corrodes! Convex blade geometry is poor due to the large thickness close to the edge. It must be reprofiling.

I own a Fallkniven A1 and I used it in different situations including camping, fishing, hunting in Canada in hot and very cold temperatures. Even if its not a hunting knife or a fishing knife I tried it just for the joke of it. Well its no joke anymore. The god damned thing was doing pretty well. Amazing knife even in non conventional use. Its very strong and the edge retention is very amazing. Its now one of my favorites with my esee 6 survival. This is no cheap thing fore sure and its stainless ( less maintenance against rust than my esee 6). Now some are complaining because its european but its well done. The only bad thing about this knife is the handle guard (Kraton instead of steel) but I heard that they now produce a cobalt steel A1 pro with steel handle guard. Hope to see and use one to compare.

I agree. Dragan was fooled by a cheap Chinese knockoff. I have 5 Fallkniven knives and they are of fabulous quality. I dont believe a syllable of that drabble.

Comment by James   02/20/2013
Yep, Dragan, seems you were not sold a Fallkniven.

Comment by Paul   10/08/2012
Dragan, I do not believe one word of that nonsense, you must have been fooled and bought a Chinese version of this blade, I have seen them and you describe that exactly, not a real Fallkniven, get to know your knives!!!

This is the best knife of its kind I've ever owned. I've carried it constantly for over 5 years and have never been disappointed. The blade keeps an edge for a good long time and it's never appeared to show any looseness. In fact, I think that's pretty amazing because this knife has not been babied at all. The finish on the blade is remarkably tough. It's only lost some of it's matte-type dull finish over the years - it's only become a bit shinier around the edges where it's been worn down but no bare metal is showing. My only complaints are minor. One is that when I fist started using this knife it took a little more effort than was comfortable to get the blade moving to the open position. This gradually got easier as the knife was used. The other thing was the pocket clip loosened a bit and made it a bit easier for the knife to fall out of my pocket. I'm sure that could be cured with a new clip, or maybe by just adjusting this one. Great knife!

Had high hopes for this knife. Always wanted a Benchmade and could finally afford one. What a plane crash it turned out to be. Was very happy at first. Beuatifully made knife. Felt tight and well made. First problem was I started noticing a little blade play when it was open after about three weeks of regular use. We're talking light use here - opening boxes, trimming fingernails - no big deal. I couldn't imagine that the main screw needed to be tightened already, but who knows. I wasn't going to find out right now because the special tool from Benchmade to tighten it was extra $$$. Until it got real bad, I'd just deal with it. The show stopper happened one day when I attempted to trim a twig from a tree in the backyard. This limb was no bigger around than a pencil. I sawed back and forth a bit and POP, a 1/2 inch by 1/8 section of the blades edge popped off! What the hell just happened? This knife had never been abused, NEVER. I loved the delicacy of the hollow ground blade but this is rediculous. Benchmade has a limited lifetime warranty, but after giving it some thought I decided that to pay shipping and insurance both ways was more than I wanted to do for this inferior knife. How could I convince them that the injury to this knife was not due to neglect? It was a horrendous gash out of the blade, but due to no fault of my own. I'm sadder and wiser. I'll never trust another Benchmade knife.

This is the most robust drafted folder that I had the opportunity to see. Lock mechanism is simplified axis-lock with an additional pin to ensure the handle when the blade is in the open position. Strong sheath can be used without holding a knife assembly and have a good diamond sharpener. The handle is uncomfortable if you do not wear gloves. The knife is designed for the most difficult tasks, it is not a classic folder and it is pretty tough. Definitely not for everyone

Tai Pan is probably the best dagger in the market. Apart from quality material blade has a perfect balance, the right dimensions for serious combat knife and excellent geometry as the great width of blade increases efficiency in cutting. Comfortable handle made ??of polymer are literally sticking to the fist.
Holster is only downside and should be done better with more secure fastening system. Kydex sheet for tactical use would be the best solution.

Have been using the Heavy Gurkha Kukri Carbon steel V seferal years. My knife is an older model with a black finish, full flat grind blade and cordura sheath. Although I live in Europe, where the predominant firm woody vegetation, Kukri has proven to be an excellent choice to prepare the ground for the camp, the camp arrangement, making makeshift huts and all difficult tasks including those commonly performed with an ax. This heavy knife is a great choice for cutting the game, for example large wild boar.
Geometry of the blade is spcific so you must be careful when cutting the swing because if the vertical stroke at a slight angle, the blade may be rejected and end up stuck in your leg. It's hard to find a knife that can be compared to kukri in efficiency.

Trail Master Bowie of steel laminated San Mai III I received as a gift three years ago. On several occasions I have used it on a camping trip and while in nature. Extremely strong knife, practically indestructible, very well designed. The great advantage of the convex blade that Brushed extremely well proven and cutting, choping off and slicing any material you can think of tough nylon rope, hard wood, game meat to store vegetables for a meal ...
The balance is good but for my needs knife is to big. I wish it was handle made ??of micarta and a slightly larger scale. Also, Kydex sheath with Tek-Loc system would be a better solution for bivouack where equipment must carries a number of ways. In brief, terrifying knife!
