The ESEEGood EDC blade around the campsite, ranch, self-defense, or to pair with a bigger wilderness blade.

GOOD- high build quality, good sheath, slices extremely well, not bad on price, and with my large size hands it fits better then my RAT 3, because the handle is 1/2 an inch longer.

BAD- the finger choil is not needed, there are other knives I would carry before this one like the TOPS KNIVES Lite Trekker or TSK.

This is one of my top 10 EDC blades of all time!

GOOD- price, VG-10 Steel, color options, 4 way pocket clip, very lightweight, handle fills out my large size hands, slices through anything so well, resharpens very easily.

BAD- some people don't like lockback knives.

Comments:

The Gerber LMF II is a great idea that falls short.

GOOD- the sheath is really well designed with multiple carry options, the blade itself is very strong and held an edge the same as my Becker Knives with 1095HC, the handle is very comfortable in your hand for extended use.

BAD- the kraton handle has a plastic spacer around the tang that broke while filming the review when we were batoning with the LMF II. I would not call this a HARD USE SURVIVAL KNIFE. The Ka-Bar Becker BK10 is a much better option.

Your not suppose to beat on the handle of any knife while batonnig ! I would call it user misuse.

Comments:

The ESEE 6 is at the top of my list for a go to Survival/Tactical Knife. It can handle almost anything you can throw at it.

GOOD- the sheath is well designed, the 1095 steel has a great heat treatment, the ergos are good, and the blade design is good for stabbing, carving, or batoning and the price is good at around $120.

BAD- the sheath is much better then most on the market, but it is a molded plastic, not kydex like the ESEE 5 or Laser Strikes sheath. The tip is a little thinner then the RAT7.

Hello All:

This SOG Creed knife is an awesome knife; This knife came out of the box with a very hard sharp edge. I was pleasantly surprised with the Quality of the Knife build and the front and back balance of the knife. I used this knife for crocodile hunting and skinning some new baby crocodiles in the Australian Outback near Paramatta; I cut the rubbery throat of the old crocodile like a hot knife through SCS butter; effortless and skinned the tender but rubbery skin of the baby crocodile like child's play.

Outstanding knife; needs more publicity and advertising write-ups to promote its Utility value in the outback; jungle; bushes and camping grounds etc
Very hard but beautifully balanced knife.
Under-rated but could be useful in most outdoor situations.

What a load of crap. Australian outback? Paramatta? Parramatta is a satallite city of Sydney Australia's largest city and at least 1500 km from the closest outback and besides no crocs in N.S.W.

I love its blade for EDC/Wilderness/Tactical use.

GOOD- the ergos are perfect, the AUS-8A steel is easy to sharpen and holds a good edge, the Triad lockback is very strong.

BAD- the coating is a joke on the blade, the G-10 handles will thrash your pocket.

This is one of my favorite fixed blades of all time.

GOOD- under $100, tough 1095HC steel that holds a good edge, great traction for stabbing, and good ergos for extended carving tasks.

BAD- nylon sheath is ok, but kydex would be better, the fit and finish of the handle scales and the coating on steel can be hit or miss.

-Price Paid: $45.00

Comments:

I have owned the Cold Steel Mini Recon 1 for over a year now and it is one of my favorite HARD USE EDC blades.
1. The blade is AUS-8A, my favorite budget steel. It is easy to resharpen and holds its edge well.
2. The Triad lock back design is the strongest on the market. I have batoned through small pieces of wood and the lock up is still perfectly solid.
3. The G-10 handles are very aggressive and are EXTREMELY ergonomic for me. I wear large size gloves. Pocket clip is great!
Now I use this knife when I am bushwhacking or when I am about to do some HARD USE because I know it will take the abuse. With that said, for about $7 more you can get a Spyderco Delica4 which is a much better EDC blade because it can slice much better, it is lighter in weight, and it will hold an edge longer because of the VG-10 Steel. The Mini Recon 1 is much tougher then the Delica4 with its thicker blade and Triad Locking mechanism. So the Mini Recon 1 is not the best edc blade out there for the price, but it is one of the toughest.

-Price Paid: $70.00

Comments:

This Tops Knives TSK is one great light duty blade. The build quality is fantastic.
BLADE- the 440C stainless steel blade holds a great edge, and has amazing slicing capability with its FFG. It is 4in. long and is 5/32in. thick. Full Tang construction.
HANDLE- the handle is micarta and is comfortable in your hand for extended use. No lanyard hole. No real traction on the blade for stabbing, makeing its name, "Tactical Steak Knife," something of a joke.
SHEATH- the sheath is perfectly made out of kydex and has a 360 degree belt clip. Total weight including sheath is less then 7oz.!
CONCLUSION- this is a wonderful camp/wilderness edc blade. Strong, high quality, and great value at around $70. I highly recommend it.

Comments:

The Becker BK-10 Crewman is a champ when it comes to TACTICAL/SURVIVAL knives.
BLADE- the 5inch blade is made out of 1095HC with a 3/16inch thick spine, and clip point designed tip which is very strong for stabbing and prying. The blade is very strong for batoning, but the BK2 is better designed for chopping and batoning then the BK-10.
HANDLE- the handle is very ergonomic for extended use and chopping, but the thumb ramp doesn't do anything to help and can get in the way.
SHEATH- the nylon sheath is good quality and can hold the BK2 as well.
CONCLUSION- If you are looking for a small version of the BK7 this is your knife. Great for soldiers or general survival tasks. If you are looking for a knife that is great at woods use and camp/bushcraft tasks the BK2 will serve you better.

The Bacon Maker knife is an underrated knife that is a good option for a large survival/tactical blade. The Bacon Maker chops better then my BK7 and weights about the same. Big sheath, but it gets the job done. It felt good in my hand for extended carving as well. It is a little over priced in my opinion, but other then that very formidable knife.

The Mini AK-47 is a big let down.

GOOD-the lockback design is very strong and the blade design is perfect for edc use. That is where the positives end.

BAD-the thumb plate makes it hard to deploy the blade, the pocket clip makes the knife ride high in the pocket, and the handle is too small and not ergonomic for my large size hands. The Mini Recon 1 is a much better option for this size blade.
