Such a sleek knife. The contrast between the exotic wood scales and the carbon fiber inlay make this knife feel like the stunning art piece that it is. The blade shape is slender and spearlike, which I think fits the style of the knife perfectly. This knife just blends modern and classic so well. Last but not least, it performs like a champ. Phenomenal knife.

Nice knife, it came out the box with a pretty lame factory edge and required a decent sharpen. I use mine for fishing, but my intensions were for everyday use around the house (not edc) but the ergonomics of the loose fitting sheath, small uncomfortable handle and the awkward drop point tip i believe, just made to put it aside. That aside it is a very tough little bastard and can open a beer, and get the fishing line ready and out, so overall I would say its a good knife if you don't mind spending the mullah!

This knife is fantastic. I have used it on everything from cardboard to wood to aluminum cans. It has remained sharp and excellent. The blade material is perfect. And everything is well worth the price. It is by far the best knife I have ever handled. If you dont yet have one get one! And lots of people say they dont like the rigidness of the scales but I actually like it a lot. It is not at all uncomfortable to me. I did NOT have to sand it down at all. It came perfect and it stayed perfect!

Sounds to me like both of you have a hard on for trolling. It doesn't matter what he bought the knife for as long as he likes it. Same with me I love my contego and the ergos work for me perfectly, don't down play a knife just because you do not like it. I can tell that both of you have a problem hearing things you don't like or that are against your opinion.

The post above shows nothing more than the fact that " the collector" has teeny tiny hands and has never actually done anything in the field with the tool. It's a very useful tool, unlike the reviewer above.

Comment by anonymous guy   11/08/2014
then you didn't use it much if you say the ergos are good. this is by far the worst ergos i have ever seen on a knife period. i have owned more than 400 different styles of knives both cheap and expensive and i stand by what i said. take it out of your pocket and actually use it rather than hype up something that you clearly wasted $180 on so you can feel better about your purchase.

Bought a pm2 before they were all the rage, the handle is to big for the blade and sucks in reverse grip. To much knife sticks out of your pocket with the stock clip. Pulled it out of my pocket it slipped out of my hand on to my hard wood floor and the tip broke off. Also owned a manix 2 that dropped onto my bathroom floor while I was cleaning it and broke the ti off as well..No more thin tip knives for my Only Emersons now and a zt 350 awsome tip.BTW when I sold the pm2 on ebay with the broken tip I got more than what I paid for it new..

This knife needed a major overhaul to be useful

1) All edges needed to be chamfered

2) The way the grip is engineered is basically useless. It's made for someone with 2 huge fingers holding it. Grinding off the pointy lump in the middle made it quite a bit better, enabling a 3 finger grip.

Even after reworking it, it sits in a drawer unloved

Despite the stereotypes, there is absolutely nothing polite, friendly, or good natured about being on the business end of this knife (get it?...a Canadian "joke" ;-) ) This knife is stubby but built to impress. I use it for everything camping, outdoors, and hunting. I have field dressed game with it and whittled sticks down to the pulp with it. It has always served me well, always sharpens right up after hard use, and looks almost as good as the day I got it with the exception of a few scratches and scuffs here and there (I've had it for quite a while). Love it and highly recommend it. Bark River has long been my fixed blade of choice and I don't see that changing any time soon.

The Buck Mayo knives have always reminded me of my Global kitchen knives. They both have the hollow handle with holes in it for grip. This is the only Buck knife I have ever owned, and I bought it because I was attracted to the look. Overall it works just fine, but while I like to look at this one, most of the time I prefer to actually cut with something else. It's not that there is anything wrong with it, but for some reason my other blades get far more pocket time.

I hate to say it, but from an aesthetic perspective the ZT 0400 is kind of the runt of the litter. However it more than makes up for its quirky look by the way it functions. The cutting edge geometry is really interesting in that it is concave and the tanto almost gives it a recurve characteristic, although it really isn't technically a recurve blade. The entire grinding pattern is really complex as it has a false edge on the top too. The handle provides tons and tons of grip and you can really dig your hand into it to keep it steady. I have a feeling this knife is a love it or hate it kind of blade, but I am one of the ones who loves it.

The DK penknife has since been discontinued by Spyderco, but it's a pretty legit all around knife. No locking feature to speak of, which in line with Denmark law. It is also different from a regular Spyderco in that the blade can't be deployed using only one hand because they have modified the hole in the blade to prevent this. The knife is built really well as are my other Spydercos and I enjoy using it.

The Ontario SP53 is the icing on the cake of large wilderness knives from OKC. It is the best chopper we have reviewed to date and can baton like a champ. It is very blade heavy. This is one for the record books. If you want a large knife to chop and baton this is it.

Surprised not to see the Bucklite Max (fixed and folders) in your reviews.
I have a great, light, fixed blade (full tang) knife (the 679)for camping, fishing, and hunting. Liked it so much, I put a small Bucklite fixed blade (673)in the car for emergencies, and another large Bucklite fixed blade (679) in my emergency stash.
Overall, this is a typical Buck knife; which means you have a great, useful tool...strong, sharp, and versatile. The Bucklites are strong, inexpensive and feel great in your hand. Don't know about batoning, as I use other tools to split wood...however, due to the number of pseudo-woodsmen/survivalists doing it on You Tube, I gave it a try. Works just fine, but again, there are better tools for splitting wood and cutting paper.
If I had one request, I'd like a choice for sheaths. I personally don't care for the ones I received with these knives...yep, I have three Bucklite fixed blades now to go with my 119 and my 40-yr-old 112.
