For a purpose built blade, Benchmade hit the nail on the head. I can't find anything really wrong with it. The lock is an axis lock which in my opinion is one of the strongest for folding knives. 154cm blade steel is really each to maintain and the blade feels silky smooth when deploying with no play at all. Although some say that it is too big for edc, I happily disagree. The knife feels like it isnt even there and it is so beautiful from the blade to the clip I don't mind carrying it. This knife in my opinion is the best benchmade folding knife to date.

First of all, this was the sharpest blade out of box so far.

Handle material is cheap but nevertheless nicely shaped and well built, opening action is smooth, with solid back-lock once opened.

So far i have no blade movement, except a really minor, when i cut 5mm leather, and i don't consider that as minus at such a small knife.Blade steel is laminated ,SGPS core with softer 420J outer layers,it sharpens well and stays sharp for a long time, and i mean sharp.Very light, unnoticeable in your pocket, perfect for daily carry and use.

I actually lost one,and bought another,i only wish that Fallkniven made one in nicer handle material.

Spyderco did a nice job with this one. Other than the fact that it was produced in China, I have no real qualms. It feels great, deploys easily, and performs well.

I do have to oil it up every once in a while as the pivot gets stiff. The 8cr13mov isn't the most amazing steel either, but it is still very usable. It is extremely easy to sharpen, but doesn't hold an edge very long.

The knife makes a good beater, but I'd like to see a US made version with a nicer steel.

Sweet handling, fast opening and very wear resistant. Had for over 10 years and used everyday with no complaints. Best knife for the money I have ever owned. This 1550 doesn't have any fancy handle materials yet is slip resistant and pretty much indestructable. Even after years of not exactly gentle use, the blade finish is still intact. I really can't think of a down side considering the price. VERY well made and absolutely dependable.

The Lahar has excellent steel and G-10 handle. That alone is reason enough for a good overall rating. I am not hung up on a perfectly centered blade, but this one came slightly scraping against the liner when opened. I eventually open every knife I get for adjustments and/or cleaning. Two of the T-6 screws stripped and I needed a very fine tipped Phillips screwdriver to remove the clip to adjust the blade. I was successful in opening the handle and did adjust the blade to my satisfaction. I just reviewed the Zing which did not have any construction problems at all. I would pay extra to have either a Zing with better materials, or a Lahar with better construction. How about both?

I received this knife in a trade with custom milled scales and backspacer that look great. i loved it so much, i bought a second one. Out of the box, the vg-10 blade is very sharp. i touched it up a bit to scary sharpness. VG-10 is excellent steel in my opinion and most would agree. The jimping along the spine of the blade is very good as is the jimping along the flipper. The blade deploys with little effort at a moderate speed. There are faster manual folders i've encountered but the lock-up on the blade is vault- solid! the lahar i received in the trade was perfectly adjusted, i just put loc-tite on the pivot screw. the factory lahar had to be slightly adjusted to my tastes and was also "loc-tited". The stock scales on the lahar offer superb purchase. there is not tto much however that you will tear up your pockets. the scales also line-up perfectly all the way around and the overall fit and finish of the knife is excellent. The blade shape is excellent for slicing and has a reinforced tip making it suitable for heavier piercing tasks. ergonomically, it is very comfortable but its not a "melt in your hand" kind of feel. Overall, i would deffinately consider this a must-have tactical or edc folder (although a bit heavy for edc- 5 or so ounces). if you like it, get it, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this knife to check out the Sandvik 14C28N steel. Kershaw's catalog states "Sandvik calls 14C28N the overall highest performing steel in the world that still maintains the productivity benefit of being fine blankable". Fine blanked blades are machine cut with very little grinding left to do. Also "has the ability to be hardened to 60+ Rockwell". Kershaw doesn't state what the Rockwell hardness is. I haven't had the chance to beat it up yet. It's so pretty I really don't want to. The flipper provides a fast and smooth opening. Very solid lockup and the flipper makes closing the blade cut proof. The handle makes for a comfortable grip but the best part of the knife is that you never have to wipe fingerprints off the blade.I may actually be left with a shirt that doesn't have a slice in it. Blade came shaving sharp out of the box. Blade also locks into closed position very tightly. A great, inexpensive EDC. I would never rate a $40 knife a 9 or a 10, but it comes close.

Great knife for a great price. Extremely lightweight with an excellent blade profile. It has only one liner with G10 scales. It has an unassisted flipper as well.

At first I found the flipper to be a bit difficult, but eventually I found the trick. Instead of using the pad of your pointer finger, you need to use the tip, like almost by your finger nail. I got to the point where I could draw the blade with absolutely no wrist flick whatsoever. Also, you have to use the flipper with this knife. The thumbstud is too small to be useful. If you were planning on relying on the thumbstud to open this knife, I think you will be disappointed.

Other than that, the liner lock locks up nice, no blade play. Kershaw paid attention to detail when assembling the skyline it seems, because I have no gripes about the fit and finish of this knife. The build quality is very good, in fact exceptional for a 30 dollar knife. I'm also impressed by how well the steel holds an edge. I'm usually an S30V man, but have to say this does the job(of course the s30v does much better, but besides the point). The steel used here beats out some of the other comparible steels used on similar knives.

Overal a great knife for the money!

The production Commander has got to be one of the most overrated knives around. The craftmanship is very shoddy. The liner is very thin. The only good thing about this knife is its silhouette.

I purchased the cocobolo version. The website shows a solid red wood handle. My knife is a two toned, red/light brown. Beautiful wood. The handle is slightly rounded as opposed to the flat CF or G-10 I am accustomed to. Very comfortable. The handle shape and jimping on the blade gives a fairly secure grip. The steel is CPMs30v which has a beautiful blade shape. Add a solid liner lock and Lone Wolf has produced a very, very fine tool. You need to handle this knife to know how sweet it is. The only knock is the clip. It could have more bend at the screws for easier access.
