This was one of the first knifes I purchased after watching a nutnfancy vid on youtube.

Knife is smaller then I thought.

Assisted open is fast.

A little to much blade play for my tastes

Aus 8 is easy to sharpen and hold decent edge.

Handle feels cheap as its made from zytel

Lock button/slider will rattle making it annoying.

Good deep carry pocket clip.

Super light with nice thin blade for slicing.

Good knife for light tasks

WOW what a steel!!! Purchased from kershawguy on bladeforums.

$49 shipped for this beast of a blade

Tim Galyean is making some killer designs.

D2 composite blade is a thing of beauty. It came scary sharp from factory.

Grey G10 is very nice looking and grippy.

This is the smoothest opening knife I have ever felt. I have no problem getting it to open fully every time with just a minor flick of the flipper.

Ergos are perfect as it conforms to my hand perfect.

Wish the clip could be moved to tip up carry.

A little large for edc but not excessively.

Now they need to make the JYD1 with G10 and composite blade = HOMERUN for EDC.

holds a good edge and came razor sharp

lock up is good

super light for the size

Flipper is addicting making you just want to open and close it once you break it in

I have to agree with you Chris, I have the "1st production" run of this knife that came out 12 years ago. The diffrence is the original version had a chisel grind blade. I purchased the Nitrous version because I have grown very very attached to my 1st Stryker and did not want to lose it. (This knife went to 3 deployments with me and has never let me down)The 2nd Stryker is a better knife in every way. The deployment is super fast and even though it doesn't have a chisel grind blade it still cut through just about anything.

This is my most EDC'ed blade.

For the price is nutts...a must have.

I'm not worried about beating the crap out of this blade one bit.

Perfect EDC size. Love the shape of the blade.

It came sharp and will take a wicked edge.

Very fast deployment with the spydy hole.

Lock up is superb.

Blade play is non-existent.

Clip is movable to 4 positions.

G-10 handle.

Man I could go on and on....Get one

It keeps finding it way back to my pocket all the time.

I bought a blem off of kershawguy on bladeforums.

I got the brown sterile zdp-189 composite blade....wow.

Super fast deployment (even tho I'm a spydy hole guy).

Blade is extremely sharp out the box

Clip was scratched up a little bit

this knife is bad ass for the price of a blem

This knife will wave out of your pocket if your not careful and will be open so watch out

I bought this blade for my wife who is always asking to use my knife at work. I got her the pink version. She loved it.

Its a nice small knife with a sold lock up and no blade play.

Ergos are nice and fits in the hand well.

Blade does have a real fat cutting edge and we tried to back it up but just ended up convexing it and its all good now.

Super thick steel for the size of this little folder...over kill really.

Comment by Dante   11/11/2013
I have purchased and handled this model as well as the Ratel version which is the same knife with a drop point profile. I would agree with the above mentioned except add that the fit and finish on these is on par with Spyderco standards.

A solid folder with a strong framelock and an interesting blade design. Poccket clip is functional and it is easy to sharpen.

I mainly use it when going to the woods in addition to a fixed blade knife. The knife is OK for light to medium duty such as branch chopping, wood working, camp installation or even food prep.

The only downside concerns handle ergonomy, less compfortable than other folders on the same price range (Spydies for example).

Overall a good knife that I recommend

Build

Everything feels well made and stands up fine to light and medium use. If you know you will need to use any of the tools on it best to take a standalone, but as an EDC to just drop in your pocket it excels. It has a lifetime warranty. To maintain extend each of the tools and blades halfway and put a drop of oil on the base of each implement.

Size/Weight

It is 31/2 inches long(91mm) and is extremely light. It weighs only about two-thirds as much as a role of pennies.

Ergonomics

The ranger fits well in my hand for a knife designed like it is. I have a medium sized hand. The knife does take awhile to get used to finding the tool you want. But you can learn where all the basic tools are instantly. There is also never any tool clumping due to space between tools.

Handles

All the tools and blades are sandwhiched in between 2 red handles. The material has begun to get scratched. The handle contains the tweezers and toothpick.

Blades

It comes with 2 blades a short utility blade(4cm) and a longer utility blade(7cm) they are unfortunately stainless not carbon steel. They hold an edge relatively well for stainless and come with a good sharp edge straight from Victorinox. The only complaints i have about the blades are that they are stainless not carbon steel, they have no locking mechanism, and they are too thin for medium/heavy use, also although they are the easiest thing to get to on the knife they still take a little while to find.

Functions

Large blade,Small blade,Can opener with small screwdriver,Bottle opener with large screwdriver & wire stripper,Scissors,Wood Saw,Metal saw with metal file & nail file,Reamer with sewing eye,Corkscrew,Hook,Wood chisel,Fine screwdriver,Toothpick,Tweezers, and a Key ring.

Overall Its a good blade i reccomend everyone who is looking for a good EDC item to have one9or a similar model), but if you intend to do anything beyond light work with the knive buy a folder.

I have been looking for a good knife for carrying for some time and this was the wrong decision. Although the blade length, serrated edge, and clip were what i was looking for, the blade quality is poor. the tip broke off during the third week i was using it and it never seems to keep a sharp edge. Overall a bad buy.

When it came in the mail it was completely dull. The first time I opend it it was good. The second time it broke. :(

Comment by Stuart H.   07/27/2015
A new "Delica" that was dull and broke when opened twice...Right, and you owned a diesel "Jetta" that crapped-out at 10,000 miles!

Comment by Burla   11/20/2014
I just don't believe you. This is easily one of the top 5 every day carry knives, the vg10 is second to none. I have it as my number one in stainless with serrated. The fact that you put it came dull means either you are just lying or you didn't get a Spyderco. I have more spyderco's then all other knives combined, never has one came dull.

Comment by Ernie   09/07/2012
Oh I get it...tickle me Elmo, ha, very non-entertaining. I know it is a joke because this describes no Spyderco I have ever been around or heard about.

Comment by lvnvknifenut   02/08/2012
Send your knive back tob Spyderco, Its rare for a Spyderco any model to brake ,Are you sure you knive was a real Spyderco ..Sounds like a copy ,I dontn believe you...

Comment by Adam   04/09/2011
I think you are full of it and if you dont know what you are talking about dont be bashing on one of the best knifes i ve owned and one of the best knife makers you just need to stop talking shit

Comment by Tom   04/01/2011
You really broke your Delica the second time you opened the knife? What part of the knife failed? Sounds like this would be a warranty issue unless you opened the knife with a hammer ;-)
